“Feels like summer” is a passion project which is born from a profound need of the artist Kyan to express his rebirth in a positive way, after struggling for two years with depression.
Kyan, visualized himself in a voyage in which he would encounter people trapped in this darkness and depression. In this journey, he would find a soul that like him wants to brake free from this darkness.
Being this a second collaboration of this dream team, director Monica G. Carter and Kyan. The song has a certain rhythm which took Monica to think about the fluidity of the water.
Monica thought that Xochimilco was the ideal location to achieve a surreal and poetic aesthetic, to create a piece full of optimism and poetry.
They collaborated to develop a story, focusing in the flora in Xochimilco, specially the flowers.
Flowers represent a feminine and delicate side, an aspect society pushes men to hide.
“We wanted to show that this sensitive side where depression resides, lives as much in men as in women. I wanted to show that there is nothing shameful about accepting it and dealing with it, disregarding your gender.” Monica adds.
This is the reason why at the end of this video the kid, without shame takes a flower and puts it in his hair imitating Kyan.
